Exultet Festival

The exhibit is from the 21st to the 27th of April, promoted by the Arci diocese of Bari – Bitonto.
The Exultet are among the most precious pieces on the permanent exhibit in the sacred art museum of Bari-Bitonto. They represent a remarkable element of the history and culture of the city of Bari.
The Exultet are liturgical scrolls that represent the Resurrection of Christ and the redemption of whole mankind.

The parchments were scrolled during the Easter liturgical chant from the pulpit to let worshippers follow the meaning of the oration through images.
Next to the Exultet, in the sacred art museum, is kept the “Benedizionale” scroll, a precious parchment with the blessing of Fire and Water in it celebrated in the “beneventano” ritual. In that ritual, the chant of the announcement of Easter and the blessing of Fire and Water were celebrated together after the Liturgy of the Word.
